It is a 52-card deck with many similarities to a regular deck of playing cards. However, Ana Cortez states: “You must throw out everything you have learned from other card-reading methods.”</li></ul></div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>This is NOT an “out of the box” reading deck. There is a learning curve. If you are not familiar with the cards created by C.J. Freeman and how they are used, you will need to take some time to study and practice. The Courts are gods and do not participate in timekeeping.” The 36 Gates are arranged by date segments such as Jan. 1-10, Jan. 10-20, Jan. 20-29, and so forth. Each of these segments is assigned a Lower Kingdom card.</div><div><br />Using the table provided in the guidebook, we see that today’s date – April 13 – falls in the segment that covers April 11-20. This segment is represented by the <b>3 of Diamonds</b> (Ignita / Fire). For my Daily Card draw, I will be using the 3 of Diamonds paired with a card which I will draw at random from the deck. By analyzing that pair of cards, I may get a sense of what today might bring. I look at these two cards together and sense that The Faun on the 8 of Hearts is trying to cast a spell on (or influence) the woman holding the severed head (3 of Diamonds). The story Cortez provides concerning the latter emphasizes "the selfishness necessary with creative ambition, and the consequences, which can be most dire." What might The Faun's goal be? Read on.</div><div><br /><b>THREE OF DIAMONDS: Severed Head</b></div><div><b><br /></b>Let’s explore this a bit. As Cortez points out, all Threes “complete the first triplicity within the ascending sequence” . . . they “arise from the experience of the Ace and the Two.” Here we have consequences and manifestation. The keyword for the 3 of Diamonds (Severed Head) is “Ambition.” </div><div><br />This is a Fire (Ignita) card. A chart provided by Cortez in the guidebook tells us that Fire represents Spirit, Autumn, South. Its qualities are “volatile, transmuting.” Among the Positive Attributes we find “courage, vitality, self-esteem, confidence…” Among the Negative Attributes we see “Egotism, insensitivity, selfishness, impulsivity…”</div><div><br /><i>All days that fall within the April 11-20 range are represented by this card. It’s not unique to me, but applies to everyone.</i></div><div><br /><b>EIGHT OF HEARTS: The Faun</b></div><div><b><br /></b>This is my draw for today, April 13. Cortez tells us that all Eights are “building block” cards representing escalation and increase. Like the Three, the Eight is about “making manifest seeds previously sewn.” </div><div><br />The keyword for this card is “Mischief.” The 8 of Hearts is a Water card. The chart in the guidebook tells us that Water (Agana) represents Emotion, Spring, West. Its qualities are “Yielding, penetrating.” Among the Positive Attributes we find “empathetic, nurturing, generosity, enjoyment of life…” Among the Negative Attributes we have “Self-doubt, obsession, jealousy, subconscious controlling action/judgment…”</div><div><br />With the 8 of Hearts we might expect energy that is strong and virile, and that can create confusion between what is real and what is illusion. The perceived order is likely to be threatened.</div><div><br />For those of us who are still learning, Cortez is kind enough to provide insight into what a Diamonds-Hearts (Ignita-Agana, Red-Red) pairing might indicate. Her key phrase for this pairing is “The ‘One-Night Stand.’” It’s not hard to understand how impulsivity paired with strong feelings (Ambition + Mischief) might play out. Situations suggested by this pairing are likely to be short-term but volatile and impossible to ignore.</div><div><br />As I post this, my day is not over, and it may yet become clear what these two cards are trying to tell me. It has been a quiet day so far, with nothing exciting or challenging taking place.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is just one of many ways The Doors of Somlipith can be used. Some Lovers cards depict a man who appears to be trying to decide between two women (one of whom is usually young and beautiful, while the other is a “wifely sort,” whatever that means). That representation suggests that a choice needs to be made.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Lovers can be about a partnership of any kind, not just romantic. However, it does suggest a sense of “yin-yang” <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>-- aka masculine/feminine, positive/negative, etc.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In The Lovers, we can see apparently opposing energies coming together to create a stronger, more powerful “whole.”</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">What energies might “come together” in 2022? Will we see more attempts at cooperation and compromise between “far right” and “far left” factions in politics? Might we see a more literal interpretation in which men and women are able to reach a common ground in some area(s)?</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Overall, I think this card indicates a positive, helpful energy. Interestingly, this is a card I often associate with my husband, as it appeared long ago in connection to him. There are simply too many variables that influence the future. What I do see here is that there is a strong possibility that I am likely to experience a positive, emotionally fulfilling outcome, due in part, perhaps, to family support and connections with those who matter to me. There is a sense of innocent trust in this card, perhaps indicating that the “concerns” represented by The Star will be overcome. My fears about a “Tower” experience may or may not be well founded. She makes it clear from the outset that this is not a deck “for women only.” Rather, it celebrates feminine energy while stressing inclusivity, unlike the original tarot, which centered its images and descriptions around the old gender roles. Among other fascinating facts provided by the guidebook that comes with Nature’s Wisdom Oracle, we learn that “The name daffodil is derived from the Dutch word <i>affodyle </i>and means ‘that which cometh early.’ By sending the Daffodil, the Universe is reminding me to be sincere, truthful, and honest in all that I do. Fortunately Robertson and Tufts do that and more with skill comparable to that of the performers under their “Big Top.”</p><p>I love books, so for me, the best place to start exploring this deck is by paging through the approximately 206-page guidebook, titled <i>Under the Big Top</i>. Preceding the discussion/description of each card in the deck, we have small sections such as “Welcome to the Show!”, “The Playbill,” and “Setting the Stage: How to Do a Reading with Your New Cards.” All of this material is clear and succinctly written, useful for beginners and more experienced readers alike.</p><p><b>ACT ONE MAJORS / The Greatest Show on Earth</b>: As expected, the pages in this section cover the Major Arcana cards. The titles on the Major Arcana cards include the card number as well as the traditional name. (I was pleased to see that the author didn’t try to get cute by giving the Majors names like “Ringmaster” or “Lion Tamer.”) In fact, there are no “lion tamers” in the deck because animals are not part of the Cirque du Tarot, yet another selling point in my opinion.</p><p><b>Swords </b>cards are illustrated in shades of dark blue, indigo, and purple (clearly linked with the element Air). <b>Wands </b>are orange and red (clearly linked with the element Fire). <b>Cups </b>are illustrated in turquoise and pink/fuchsia. <b>Pentacles </b>cards feature golds and browns. Or, as Brian Clark puts it: “Taurus carries the earthy, sensual, fertile, and resourceful sides of the goddess, symbolized by her green sash. Behind Themis we see a peacock, “whose tail is a swirl of colors that has become associated with totality and wholeness” (Clark). The mantle Themis wears is covered with roses (the heart, beauty, love). </p><p>The process of equality and balance is emphasized by Justice -- that is, equality and balance between polarities, differences, or disagreements. Natives of the sign Libra are known for their desire to examine and explore all sides of everything in order to resolve conflicts fairly. In order to get a more personal “take” on this placement, we can look at which house transiting Venus is in while in Libra. In my case, that is the First House, House of Self. I (and others with that same house placement) will very likely experience moments of peaceful, balanced energy at a very personal level, including harmony in our closest personal relationships. The vibes from this Venus-in-Libra transit should be quite pleasant and satisfying. It is about America’s birth chart and the Tarot cards that one could associate with that chart. <b><u>Please note</u></b> that I am not ignoring the fact that there were many nations on this continent long before the arrival of European settlers and the writing of the Declaration of Independence. I am choosing in this post to deal with the formal establishment of the United States of America in 1776.<br />

After doing a bit of research, I quickly discovered that astrologers do not agree on the date and time (mostly the time) for which the birth chart of the U.S. should be cast. I won’t go into all of that here. You can do a search on the net and find out more than you probably want to know about it!<br />
<br />
The two main variances seem to be the “Sibly chart,” originally published in 1787 by English astrologer, physician and herbalist, Ebenezer Sibly (1751-1799). Those who use this chart note that Sibly was alive at the time of the signing and therefore could have had access to information that is no longer available. The Sibly Chart, cast for July 4, 1776, 5:10 pm LMT (Local Mean Time), Philadelphia, PA, has Sagittarius rising.<br />
<br />
In contrast, we have the “Gemini Rising Chart” for 02:13am, attributed to Evangeline Adams in the 1920s. This chart places Uranus (planet of rebellion and upheaval) exactly on the Ascendant. Some astrologers argue that this reflects the “birth” of America quite accurately, but opponents feel the chart does not depict the true nature of American character. In her book <i>The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need</i> (Taylor Trade Publishing), Joanna Martine Woolfolk writes, “Your Ascendant is the sign that reflects your outward demeanor and to a great extent determines how the outside world looks at you.” It often represents the “mask” we wear or the way we act when our defenses are up.<br />
<br />
In the Thoth deck, we not only see “The Lovers” in Trump 6, we also see The Hermit officiating over the marriage depicted on the card between the Black King and White Queen. The Hermit (linked with the zodiac sign Virgo and the Hebrew letter Yod) contributes a creative, virile, fertile energy to this card.<br />
<br />
Notice the white child standing with the Black King and the black child with the White Queen. These four figures together can be seen as representing the integration of opposites which, interestingly, is one of the themes of the Temperance card (Art in the Thoth deck), which is linked with Sagittarius, the rising sign in the Sibly Chart I mentioned earlier.<br />
<br />
The Fool is commonly seen to represent birth, creation, the very beginning of something – perhaps a new idea, since the card is associated with the element Air by the Golden Dawn. On the Thoth card we don’t have The Fool gazing in the air as he steps off a cliff. However, the fact that The Fool on the Thoth card is being threatened by a tiger and a crocodile tells us that he is not in a “safe” situation, that there are risks involved, energies that may distract or block him from moving forward.<br />
<br />
It appears that the colonies did try to reconcile the conflicting views held by the Mother Country and themselves. Indeed, before April 1775, many of the colonists hoped for reconciliation with King George III and Great Britain. But by the time the Declaration of Independence was signed, the relationship was damaged beyond repair and the colonies were ready to bring forth “a new nation conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” ~ (- Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, 1863). That “new nation” is The Fool, independent, original, and ready to face an unknown future.<br />
<br />
The Lovers card from the Thoth deck can be said to represent equality in that we see opposites being integrated or brought into balance. Neither the Black King nor the White Queen will rule over the other. To me, this actually foreshadows the argument of the abolitionists in the 1800s, who pointed out that the Declaration of Independence states that “all men are created equal” and that slavery was in conflict with that belief.<br />
<br />
America’s <b>Sun Sign is Cancer</b>. In Tarot terms, this gives us <b>The Sun</b> and <b>The Chariot.</b><br />

In Astrology, the Sun in a birth chart represents our general character, our ego, our identity and sense of Self. In the Tarot, The Sun is a positive, strong card associated with freedom, happiness, and good health. In The Chariot we see triumph over adversity, self-control, moving forward and taking advantage of opportunities. Cancer is a Water sign known for being sensitive, nurturing, emotional, loyal, and protective. The connection between the sign and the card can be found in comparing the protective shell on the Cancer crab with the armor, helmet, and shield used by the charioteer. Also, Cancer is a cardinal sign, which gives it the qualities of action, leadership, and outgoing activity – all of which apply to The Chariot.<br />
<br />
In The Chariot I see a “new nation” that is fortified, armored, and steeled for whatever lies ahead, determined to direct its own path and to remove any obstacles in its way. But the armor is only necessary because the creature wearing it is vulnerable and sensitive. Cancer is the sign of home and family, concepts Americans have always held dear. America will defend its homeland and its friends with armed force if necessary.<br />

In Astrology, the Moon represents emotions, instincts, and the unconscious – the hidden aspects of the personality. In Astrology, the Moon rules the sign Cancer. The Priestess holds the Book of Mysteries on her lap, a book containing esoteric knowledge that can only be accessed using intuition, emotion, and the unconscious mind.<br />
<br />
The sign Aquarius (which happens to be ruled in modern Astrology by Uranus) is known for innovation, humanitarianism, idealism, and intellect. Aquarians are often described as displaying rebellious, unusual, even shocking behavior.<br />
<br />
The Star card in the Thoth deck features Nuith (Nuit) pouring the Water of Universal Life upon the fertile earth. Nuith is based on an Egyptian sky goddess, Nut, who was appropriated by Aleister Crowley for use in the Thelema pantheon. Crowley wrote: “Nuit is All that which exists, and the condition of that existence” and "Note that Heaven is not a place where Gods Live; Nuit is Heaven, itself."<br />
<br />
To me, these qualities of Aquarius and The Star beautifully depict the inner spirit, emotions, and “unconscious mind” of the United States of America that was “born” on July 4, 1776 – the motivation and deepest emotional needs of the people who journeyed to and settled in the New World. What I am getting are the hope and faith and high ideals within so many of those who settled here: the sentiments that inspired the words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”<br />
<br />
The Lovers (and The Fool) rising, The Chariot sun sign, and The Star moon sign together create a picture of this country that reflects the past, mirrors the present, and offers hope for the future.<br />

The triangle alludes to the number Three, as in Trump 3. The triangle tips point up, representing a strong foundation or stability, as they are rooted to the ground through a solid base. The circle, of course, symbolizes the cyclical and continuous nature of life, wholeness, eternity.<br /><br />Regardless of our own personal experiences with or as mothers, The Empress reminds us that “mothering” is larger and broader than any individual or species. about 38 meters (over 124 feet) tall according to the LWB for the Sacred Sites
Tarot. Another source places the height of the statue at 98 feet/30 meters but
in any case, it is one of the seven wonders of the modern world. Obviously this
statue has tremendous religious significance. <p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">One of the things I always think
about is that some people say this was the inspiration for Paul McCartney’s
song “The Fool on the Hill.” There are several other interpretations of the
song, but I didn’t know about the statue until I read that explanation, so I
tend to associate the two.<o:p></o:p></p>

sacred site for the indigenous San Carlos Apache tribe. For astronomers from the
University of Arizona, the mountain was a prime location for their new
observatory. In 1990 the Apache Survival Coalition was formed to save the
sacred mountain; however, in spite of their efforts, a telescope was erected
and dedicated there in 1994. Some San Carlos Apache still place their trust in
medicine men, who journey to Mt. Graham to look for healing herbs—special
plants and plant parts that can only be found there—and to learn healing
techniques from the mountain spirits. mother embracing her child, and it can literally represent that. However, it
may also refer to a teacher guiding a student or a master training an
apprentice. In some capacity, we are currently or may soon need to protect or
provide direction to someone under our care. In my case, I feel this in a
number of ways. I am at least partly responsible for the care and wellbeing of
my own mother. At age 98, she lives in an assisted living facility, where she
has ready access to much of the care she needs. But there is more to life than
having one’s basic needs met. I see my phone calls and visits as part of her “care
plan,” especially at an emotional level. In addition, I am mother to two
children – one of whom just lost his job, and the other whose husband just lost
his job. My protective instincts are naturally activated as I consider what I
